Special
Needs
One
of our goals is to offer adults and children with special needs, a place where
they can be free to discover, in an environment they feel safe in. We strive to
provide a positive, creative experience for students with varying function
levels, using instructors who are skilled with special needs students.
Art of any kind is
so important for expression, for self-esteem, and for creative
thinking. Our classes give students the ability to try new techniques and tools
such as hot glue, saws, cordless drills and mediums that range from wood, paint,
fabric, wire, and bins full of unique items. We recognize that each student has
different skills, strengths, experience and imagination. We work with each
studentÕs unique abilities (not disabilities) and allow each student to choose
the process, materials and end creation that they can be proud of with minimal
reliance on the facilitator for direction (although assistance is given). Whether
the end product is complete in vision or a complete disaster, we celebrate the
process of creative expression.
WeÕre excited to
be a place where adults and children with special needs can express themselves.
It is our dream to see the adults and children with disabilities in this
community integrated into a culture of creativity. Let us know how you can help
make that a reality.
